How crazy is Epcot w/ evening EMH? I'm comparing 2 options: late start @ Epcot day we arrive. Crowd level is 4 but it's evening EMH. Other option is day 1 of 2 at Magic Kingdom when we arrive & do Epcot that Sat., but crowd level is 8. thanks!

    Hi Erin!

It is so hard to figure out crowd numbers at the parks these days. Since Walt Disney World draws guests from around the world we can never know what times are busy with school vacations as they change from year to year.

Many sites offer what their past research has shown but it is not an exact science. There are some basic thoughts to planning that can help.

During a Festival time especially, it is best to avoid Epcot on a weekend day or night. The World Showcase is a draw to many of the local population who enjoy coming for the ambience and entertainment. The Future World section of Epcot will thin out some in the afternoon as guests meander over to the World Showcase. It is not a bad timing issue if you start late in this park as most of the attractions you will want to enjoy will be in Future World. Be sure and grab some FastPasses before you arrive for some of the most popular things such as Frozen, Test Track, and Soarin.

If you can stay for the Extended Park Hours on the day you arrive it will be a great experience. Only resort guests have this option and the lines for the attractions generally are much shorter then during a normal day. It would be my choice if planning a trip with those options.

The Magic Kingdom park is always busy as this is the iconic park of the entire resort property. Everyone comes to this park even if they have only a one day trip planned. The best thing to remember is to get your FastPasses and to arrive early as the first two hours are fairly quiet allowing you to see much shorter lines.

    Enjoy your vacation!
