What is the most cost effective way for a family of 6 to visit Disney World? We would like to stay about 10 - 14 days.

    Jennifer:

Like you, our family is not your typical family of four!  With six of us, we find ourselves on a budget for many of our trips, but the good news is that Disney has accommodations that fit any budget and family size.

Your most economical accommodation is going to be two connecting rooms at a Value Resort like All-Star Movies or Pop Century.  Make sure that you request connecting rooms, not adjoining rooms, or you may not have a door between the rooms.

Your next choice is a family suite at the All-Star Music resort.  These suites are the size of two regular rooms but have a separate bedroom, two baths and a kitchenette.  They sleep six with the sleeper sofa and chair and ottoman transfoming into beds much like a rollaway.  The kitchenette has a microwave and mini-refrigerator and can help you contain your costs for meal planning.  Be aware that these rooms book up well in advance.

Another option you may want to consider is a cabin at Fort Wilderness.  They have a separate bedroom with a double bed and bunks and a Murphy bed in the living area.  What sets it apart from the family suites is its full-size kitchen.  You may find that cooking many of your meals, rather than eating them in the park, can help you afford the upgrade to the cabin.  It has a stovetop with oven along with a full-size frig and even a dishwasher.  You'll also find a grill on its deck.  You can have groceries delivered from www.gardengrocer.com if you're not planning on having your own car.

If you need any more tips on vacationing with a family of six, feel free to come back and visit me via my bio page!  Wishing y'all a magical vacation!

My family of 6 appreciates Disney's value! Although Ft. Wilderness is our second home, we've enjoyed the resorts for business, reunions and romantic getaways. For me, Disney also means dining: last count, I'd eaten at 55 restaurants around the World! Learn More About Whitney
