Can I convert/upgrade a 5 day pass to a deluxe annual passport even though it will be a blockout day?

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel, Skip. I hope you're having a magical week.

I see you've indicated your arrival date as December 18, 2016. The blockout dates for Deluxe Annual Passport are December 19, 2016 through January 2, 2017. On those particular dates, Deluxe Passholders will not be able to use their Annual Passport and must pay to enter the park by purchasing regular admission.

If you already have your 5-day pass for your mid-December trip, you can still upgrade to a Deluxe Annual Passport. However, I recommend that you do this on your last day of visit to the parks, after you have already used up all 5 days worth. The price you've paid for your 5-day pass will be applied toward the cost of the Deluxe Annual Passport when you upgrade. Keep in mind that if you upgrade on your first day of your trip to a Deluxe Annual Passport, you will not be able to use the Passport to enter the parks starting December 19, 2016 due to blockout dates.

I hope this information is helpful, and I apologize if it seems confusing. As always, please feel free to write back to me if you have further questions, Skip.

I am a wife and mother to 2 children, a 14 year old daughter and 9 year old son. I have always enjoyed going to Disneyland Resort as a child and now that I am a mother, I love watching my children experience Disneyland Resort through their eyes. It is a true delight seeing my daughter wear a ball gown walking side by side with Cinderella or my son jumping gleefully after he defeated Darth Maul in a light saber duel! Learn More About Kiki
