Fireworks at Magic Kingdom

Hello! We are considering a trip to WDW in February over President's day weekend with our school-age children. Do you have any experience with how crowded the park is this weekend, how it compares to other peak seasons? Thank you!

    Hi Kimberly,

The week of Presidents Day can be busy at the Walt Disney World Resort because a lot of the school districts in the northeast have their winter break. However, I can tell you it's not nearly as congested as the time between Christmas and New Year's. Crowds can be easily managed during a peak season by following a few simple general guidelines. For example, purchase tickets with the Park Hopper Option. If you find park attendance levels at one Disney theme park to be particularly overwhelming, the Park Hoppers will allow you to jump to another less crowded park that very same day.

Do stay at a Disney Resort hotel, then tour the Disney parks offering morning Extra Magic Hours. Afterward, hop to a different less congested park later in the day. Another idea is to schedule up to 3 FastPass+ selections ahead of time. Once you redeem that set of FastPass+ selections (or the last arrival window has already passed), make additional FastPass+ selections via the My Disney Experience mobile app or at any of the easy-to-find FastPass+ Kiosks. Repeat this process, adding one FastPass+ selection at a time, up to park closing.

Arrange to eat quick grab-and-go breakfasts before the theme parks open daily. Do plan on early lunches and dinners to avoid the crowds. For the latter meals, make advanced dining reservations 180 days prior to your trip. You can book them online, using the My Disney Experience mobile app or by calling (407) WDW-DINE (407-939-3463).

I hope you found this information useful, Kimberly. Please don't hesitate to visit us again with more Disney vacation planning questions.

Wishing you an unforgettable visit to the place where The Magic is Endless!
