Hello. I am considering registering for the Marathon, but have only done half's. If come race day, I do not feel I can complete the full, can I downgrade to the half? I have seen this at other races, but was unaware with Disney. Thank you in advance!

    Hi Angel!

Thank you for bringing your question to the Disney Parks Moms Panel!

Registering for your first marathon is a daunting feeling. I ran my first marathon at Walt Disney World after completing about a dozen half marathons, and it was a great experience. I honestly believe the Walt Disney World Marathon is a perfect introduction for that distance.  It's very friendly to all paces and running levels.

The half marathon and full marathon actually take place on two different days.  The half is on Saturday and the full is on Sunday.  Runners who sign up for the full marathon can switch to the half. Here are the details:
Registrations may be transferred within the same race weekend, to a different race distance, as long as the desired race distance is not sold out. The Guest must first register for the new event for the transfer to be valid; any difference in registration price the for a lesser distance (if any) will then be refunded, less a $45 transfer processing fee.

If you're considering the 2017 race weekend, the half marathon is already sold out so it would not be possible to change from the full to the half for that weekend.

You can find more details on the Walt Disney World Marathon weekend registration page.

I hope this helps!  Please let me know if you have any other questions.
