We are considering a last minute vacation in August to Disney. We have never been in August and I am worried about the heat. Does anyone have suggestions on planning a trip or not at this time? Are the water parks worth it? Fast pass availability to late?

    Hi Amy,

A last-minute trip to Walt Disney World can be so much fun! Let me talk you through planning for an August trip.

It will be hot at Walt Disney World in August, but hat has not stopped my family and I from heading to Walt Disney World at that time. As you go later into August, many children are heading back to school and the number of guests in the parks tends to drop. In order to manage the heat in August, my family likes to head into the theme parks early in the morning. By early afternoon, we are ready for lunch in an air-conditioned table service restaurant, and then we head back to our resort for a nap or some pool time during the heat of the day. If we want to return to a theme park, we do so in the evening as it cools off. We carry water bottles into the theme parks with us, and I like to freeze one of them - which is then icy cold to drink and also cools off my back when I carry it in my backpack.

My family loves a visit to a Disney water park. Whether we hit Disney's Blizzard Beach Water Park or Disney's Typhoon Lagoon Water Park, we find both of these to be great fun. They are definitely a wonderful place to cool down! Each features a wave pool, and if you are hot, spending an extended time in the wave pool will keep you cool.

Finally, I believe that you will still be able to make good use of the Disney FastPass+ system. Of course, you are already within the 60-day window at which Disney resort hotel guests can make Disney FastPass+ selections, so you may need to be flexible with your attractions and times, but I still think it will be helpful for you.

What I am saying is, go for it, Amy! And please do let us know if you have any further questions as you plan.
