I am considering doing the TinkerBell run, but I'm not sure how to work out all of the logistics of visiting the park as well as running in the half marathon. My girls will be 5 and almost 2 when we come. How can we all enjoy the park together?

    Welcome, Cindy!

I am glad to hear you are considering participating in the 2015 Tinker Bell Half Marathon. Next year's race will be held on Mother's Day and I can't think of a better way to celebrate being mom!

Having traveled to many runDisney events with my own children, I understand your concern in trying to do it all while you are there. While I am not sure of your travel dates, I do have some suggestions to make the most of your time over the weekend.

    • Stay on Disneyland® Resort property. By staying at a Disneyland® Resort Hotel, you're right in the middle of the magic and within walking distance at all theme parks, the Downtown Disney District and to your corral on race morning. Offering you the ability to truly maximize your time.

    • Consider visiting Disney's California Adventure on Sunday post-race. It's important for your recovery to keep moving after you've run, rested and refreshed. The smaller size of this park makes it the perfect location to walk off any soreness or tightness you may be experiencing. And enjoying this location even for a half-day will be great fun for your girls.

    • Visit Disneyland® Park on Friday or Monday. You'll want to keep your Saturday activity light, especially if this is your first endurance event.

    • Use the run/walk method created by the official runDisney Training Consultant, Jeff Galloway. This strategy will keep you injury free while you train and while you race. Additionally, your recovery time will be shorter, allowing you to be functional and ready to hit the parks shortly after you've completed the race.

I hope these tips are helpful, Cindy! I hope to hear from you again soon!
