Considering a Disney Springs hotel vs. one of the All Star hotels to cut costs. Pros/cons, any advice. Party of 6.

    Hi, Kristin!

You are doing the right thing checking out all your resort options before making any decisions on where to stay during your Walt Disney World vacation. There certainly a lot of choices!

When staying at any location that is not a Disney resort, there may be extra costs that you will need to factor in. Check resort fees, daily parking, and fees for bus transportation to the parks. Each hotel will have their own fine print, so read details carefully before booking. The upside of staying off property is you can often find a much larger room for similar costs. But just beware of hidden fees! If staying off Disney property and plan to drive to the theme parks, remember that there is a daily parking fee (complimentary standard parking is available for Disney resort guests).

When staying at a Disney resort, you do not need a car as complimentary transportation is provided around property as well the airport via Disney's Magical Express. Also, there are no additional resort or transportation fees. The downside of a Disney resort is that the rooms are not huge. You can definitely find larger rooms for the money off site.

So the big question is "what do I do?" Well, if you plan to head back to your resort for mid-day breaks and would prefer to skip a car, then stay on property. If you will only spend a short time in the theme parks and want to relax in your resort room and have lots of space, you might prefer an off-site resort. For my family, we opt for staying on property for that total 24/7 feel of being in WDW. But you can still have a magical vacation wherever you stay. I hope you find the perfect location for your travel party!
