Tweens planning

I am considering bringing my kids to Disney (ages 10 & 12) for January 2nd...is that a crazy time of year? Long lines, etc??

    Hi Nicole,

Thank you so much for visiting the Disney Parks Moms Panel with your question. I have a 12-year-old child as well, and find that traveling to Walt Disney World with tweens is a great deal of fun! I am happy to help you with thinking about time of year to travel.

The date that you mention, January 2, will be right as the winter holiday break is coming to a close. The winter holiday break is one of the most popular times of year to visit Walt Disney World, so I imagine that there would still be a significant number of guests at Walt Disney World on January 2. From that date, there will likely start to be a drop in the number of guests at Walt Disney World; however, the Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend is January 3 - 8, 2018. This will keep a substantial number of guests at or coming to Walt Disney World. I would predict that after January 8 is when you would start to see fewer guests at Walt Disney World, and the rest of January does tend to be a month with fewer guests.

I do want to let you know that if January 2 is when you are able to visit Walt Disney World, I think that you should absolutely do so! When I visit Walt Disney World at a more popular time of year, I find it especially important to take advantage of Disney FastPass+ service, which allows guests to choose some attractions to experience each day with shortened wait times. I also find that arriving at a theme park early, even 30 minutes or so ahead of opening time, allows me to experience a theme park with fewer other guests at any time of year, as many people like to sleep in.

I hope that these thoughts are helpful for you, Nicole. Please do let us know if you have any further questions!
