Hi, we're concerned about the 2 buses needed to get around the Cabins. We visit all of the parks and park hop daily so the added time walking & on buses w 2 little ones & gran is always an issue. Should we stay at the Cabins, rent cart or try Old

Hi Giuliana! The use of the buses is often a major concern for Disney guests and Fort Wilderness is included in that topic. There is an internal bus system in place but what makes it easier then other resorts is that the buses are rarely crowded making them an easy on and off. The trip to the main entrance where you catch the park buses or the marina where you catch the boats is very short.

One great option to avoid the internal buses is by renting the fun golf carts. We actually love to do this and budget this into our Fort Wilderness trips. They are pricey but what fun and we simply enjoy taking tours of all the loops to see the recreational vehicles and other sites we might miss otherwise.

You will want to take the boat to the Magic Kingdom and it is a fun and different way to get to a park. You will end up directly at the entrance with basically no walk to get into the park. From there you can hop on the monorail to reach Epcot and reverse your steps back home or take a bus back. I suggest bussing to the Studios and going between that park and Epcot via the boats taking a bus back from either one.

Fort Wilderness is a special place for many guests including my family. We cherish the quiet atmosphere and space and wildlife that we can encounter there. The cabins are rustic but clean and offer you full kitchens plus grills and decks with picnic tables. The bedding includes bunk beds and a double bed in the one bedroom and then a double pull down murphy bed in the living area. There is only one bath. Old Key West has some different room options for you to consider and especially if you feel you need more then one bath. They are very different and the choice will depend on what you really are wishing for a Disney experience.
