Coming from the west coast, we won't be arriving to Orlando until 5:30 p.m. We are staying at the Old Key West Resort. What time can I reasonably expect to be checked in and can you provide a recommendation of how to spend our first evening.

    Hi Angela,

I'm so excited about your upcoming stay at Disney's Old Key West Resort.  Did you know that the rooms at this charming resort have been renovated recently?  Check out the description of the lovely renovations that have taken place here on the Disney Parks Blog.

You can reasonably expect to check in at 4 pm.  Sometimes rooms are available before this time, but this is not guaranteed.  (We checked in at Disney's Beach Club Villas earlier this month and our room was ready at 11 am.  We were so surprised and excited!)  It's not likely for you to have to wait beyond 4 pm for your room at Disney's Old Key West, but sometimes there are delays in preparing the rooms to Disney standards so keep that in mind.  If you are arriving in Orlando at 5:30 pm, your room should be ready to go by the time you reach the registration desk at Old Key West.

After registering at your resort, I would head to Downtown Disney for dinner and some shopping.  I LOVE the World of Disney store here.  Much to my husband's chagrin, I could get lost in there for hours.  Downtown Disney is very close to Old Key West so you can then return to your room easily to rest up for the next day.

Wishing you a magical Walt Disney World vacation!
