    Sue Asked

Hi Moms. We are coming all the way from NZ for a trip of a lifetime and have NO IDEA where to start! Thinking of staying in the Cabins at The Wilderness Resort for 5 nights. ANY advice on accommodation and must-do's would be hugely appreciated! Thanks.

Hi Sue! You are indeed coming a far distance for a great Disney vacation!

The Cabins in Fort Wilderness are a nice accommodation if you prefer kitchen facilities and quiet.  There is one bedroom with a double bed and bunks and tv and small closet and chest of drawers.  A large bath with one sink is off the hall.. The kitchen has full facilities and includes a large table with seating for six.  The living area is small but has a sofa, small table and chairs for children, tv and DVD player, and a pull down double bed.  Storage is at a minimum in these cabins.  Fort Wilderness is alive with a multitude of things to see and do and it is fairly easy to get to all parks and locations.  It is a good deal for the price when looking at the budget.

The other Disney accommodations are more like a hotel room with double or queen size beds and possibly sofa beds. Some of the resorts will be close to parks and other activities and those will usually be in the deluxe category so you will be paying more.

I will list my favorites in each lodging category so you can research the amenities before making a decision.
Value Resorts:  Pop Century (great layout of the buildings, nice pools, and wonderful food court)
Moderate Resorts:  Coronado Springs (only resort in this category to offer queen beds in the rooms versus doubles, has a spa and full service restaurant)
Deluxe Resorts:  Yacht and Beach Club resorts for their location(walk to EPCOT and Studios).
There are also villa type resorts.  You can read about all of these by clicking HERE.

Please feel free to send me more specific questions about  lodging choices as well as questions concerning the "must do's".  The space allowed here will not let me write those thoughts in this answer but would love to help you more in your planning process.
