Mom With Kids After Run

We are coming 9/30-10/6 - with the not so scary going on - do you think it will be crowded? We visited in Jan of '07 and it lines were wonderfully short. Think we'll run into the same luck with the halloween festivities? Any suggestions to avoid crowds?

Let’s keep the secret about low January crowds to ourselves! It’s my favorite time to visit….sh!! We’ve actually dined at counter service restaurants such as Backlot Express and ABC Commissary by ourselves during this sometimes cold but less crowded time of year.

The end of September/beginning of October is also a wonderful time to travel to WDW. While crowds will not be as low as what you would find at the end of January, you will still benefit from shorter lines.

The crowds will be slightly larger due to the special events that take place at this time of year. Epcot’s International Food and Wine Festival and Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party attract visitors during what was once a very slow time of year at WDW.

On the plus side, you’ll have warmer weather for the resort pools and water parks. We also have noticed that at least one Must See attraction is down for rehab during January so hopefully you‘ll benefit from less closures at this time of year.

To avoid what little crowds will be there, I would simply suggest steering clear of the park hosting Extra Magic Hours.

You may want to do the opposite of the crowds in another way too: Go to the Magic Kingdom on the day of an evening party. If the Halloween party is scheduled that night, many guests will avoid the Magic Kingdom due to the park closing at 7 p.m. This only holds true for morning and early afternoon touring, since party-goers will begin to arrive in the late afternoon.

You are already doing well by escaping prior to the Columbus Day weekend holiday!

January does have benefits for low crowds but experiencing WDW at other times of the year is tremendous fun. I think you will truly enjoy the Fall festivities.
