We are coming next week. It looks like rain! :( how will this effect our trip? Will rides still operate?

    Hi Denise,

Congratulations on your upcoming trip!  You'll be walking right down the middle of Main Street, U.S.A. before you know it!

As much as I'd love to say the skies are always sunny at Walt Disney World, rain and Florida just seem to go together (kind of like Mickey and Minnie).  The good news is that it doesn't have to slow you down one bit.  In fact, it's been my experience that  rain is usually a short-lived event - storms seem to pop up in the afternoon and last just an hour or two.  Almost always, the parks will stay open and most rides will still be running.  If the rain is really coming down, outdoor shows and parades may be postponed or canceled to keep the performers safe.

I like to take a look at the day's forecast before heading out to the parks each morning.  If rain is a possibility, I throw a poncho and baseball hat for everyone into my backpack, along with a towel to dry off.  We'll also usually wear sandals or other shoes that will dry quickly so that we're not stuck in wet socks and shoes for the rest of the day. If the rain starts, we just throw on our rain gear on and keep moving.  We might find something to do that's indoors, do some souvenir shopping or grab a snack while we wait for the storm to pass.  The rain can sometimes even bring a welcome relief from the heat and thinner crowds (meaning shorter lines for you)!

Wishing you a magical vacation, rain or shine!  Please write back if we can help answer any other questions.
