Hi there- we're coming on our first trip feb 2 & 3 (DS 5, DD3). We're spending both days at Magic Kingdom. I want everyone to have a great time. Plan rest in afternoon at CR. Do I need a touring plan or can we just hit areas/rides as we choose?

    Hi Sandra,

I have a few suggestions for your visit to the Magic Kingdom.  Arrive at the park's opening both days as this is the least crowded the park will likely be all day.  You may even want to arrive 15-20 minutes before the stated opening time so you can catch the adorable opening ceremony at the Magic Kingdom's train station.  You have to see this at least once.  Mickey and friends arrive by train to open the park and there is great music, too.

On day one in the Magic Kingdom, I would head directly through Cinderella's castle and into Fantasyland.  Hit as many of these attractions as possible.  Lines at the beginning of the day in Fantasyland are practically non-existent as many early guests head straight for the thrill rides in Tomorrowland and Frontierland.  The attractions in Fantasyland are probably going to be among your children's favorites, based on their ages.  After Fantasyland, have some lunch or do some shopping down Main Street, U.S.A. before heading back for a nap at your resort.

When you return to the Magic Kingdom after your rest, choose another region of the park (perhaps Tomorrowland) to explore or watch a parade.  Grab a Fast Pass for any attraction with a long wait time, and return later.  Be sure to catch the fireworks over Cinderella's castle!  Maybe your kids would like to see Tinkerbell fly from the castle as part of their nighttime fireworks display.  If so, choose a viewing spot to the front, right of the castle.  I like to stand near the Plaza Ice Cream Parlor (because of the view AND the ice cream).

On your second day in the Magic Kingdom, I would start out in Adventureland at park opening and visit as many attractions there as possible.  You'll be amazed how much you can get done if you arrive early.

I hope you and your family have a magical time.  Let the memories begin!
