Coming at the end of Oct 10, having trouble deciding where to stay before my timeshare stay off property. 2 Adult w/6 yo B. Thinking about AKL or GF. Not sure which would be more fun or offers better benefits. Would like something xtra fun for the 6yo also

    Melissa:

If you're looking for a resort that will impress your 6-year-old son, I think the Animal Kingdom is a solid choice, especially if you choose a Savannah View so you can enjoy the animals. I definitely think it's a better choice than the stuffy Grand Floridian if you've got a boy....

The upside to the Grand Floridian, though, is its monorail service to the Magic Kingdom. However, if that's more appealing than only having bus transportation at Animal Kingdom, I'd recommend the more-adventurous Polynesian, with it's pool-side volcano, which offers the monorail and may be a better fit for your family.

Speaking of pools, you'll still be able to enjoy the water in October, so you might also want to consider Beach Club. Its pool has a sandy beach area and an AWESOME slide with a pirate-ship theme.  You can wake up to a Character Breakfast at Cape May Cafe with Minnie and the gang, and you're also within walking or a boat-ride of Disney's Hollywood Studios and Epcot. You also have the backdrop of the Boardwalk in the background, perfect for a stroll at night to enjoy the magicians and other fun with your son.

Any way you go, Animal Kingdom, Beach Club, or Polynesian, I think you'll come out better for your son than the Grand Floridian. Save it for a trip to Disney for just you and your spouse.

    Wishing y'all a magical vacation!

My family of 6 appreciates Disney's value! Although Ft. Wilderness is our second home, we've enjoyed the resorts for business, reunions and romantic getaways. For me, Disney also means dining: last count, I'd eaten at 55 restaurants around the World! Learn More About Whitney
