We are coming to Disney Land in a month. My daughter recently had surgery on her foot and it will be in a walking boot. Does Disney offer anything so she won’t have to stand for a long time to get on an attraction?

    Hello, Lee,

I’m so sorry to hear your daughter needed to have surgery. I hope her recovery goes well over the next few weeks. I understand the challenges that healing injuries may present, even when visiting the Happiest Place on Earth. Our son had an injury during a family visit some time ago. But we were grateful for the accommodations and concern that were given to him by kind Cast Members during our vacation.

Our family typically walks 10-14 miles a day while visiting the Disneyland Resort theme parks. All that walking can be tiring even when we are well. It’s all the more challenging when also dealing with an injury or other disability. But the Disneyland Resort is very good with supporting guests with disabilities. Guests with more severe needs that prevent waiting in a conventional queue may require enrollment in the Disability Access Service. But for most mobility limitations, the best recommendation I can offer is to make use of a wheelchair or electric conveyance vehicles (ECVs). If you aren’t able to bring one from home, a wheelchair or ECV may be rented from the Disneyland Resort or from third-party medical device providers in the area. This will not only grant you access to additional accommodations available at some attractions, but it will also help keep that healing foot rested when moving between attractions within the parks.

The countdown to your upcoming Disneyland Resort vacation is getting pretty low, Lee! I hope you enjoy all the magic awaiting you at the Disneyland Resort this Summer. For a limited time this Summer, the classic Soarin' Over California returns for an inspiring tour over the Golden State. Simba, Timon, Pumbaa, and others brighten our day in "Tale of The Lion King" in Disney California Adventure Park. And I am so excited for new experiences such as the recently-opened Mickey's PhilharMagic and Inside Out Emotional Whirlwind, opening soon.

    Have a magical time, Lee!
