We will be coming in August with 2 teenagers I need advice on what parks or shows would appeal to teens. I am having a difficult time finding hotel rooms that can accommodate a family of 4 that needs 2 queen beds and either a sofa bed or twin bed.

    Hi Kathleen,

Thanks for stopping by the Disney Parks Moms Panel. You and I are in the same boat! I have two teenagers, a boy and a girl, and it makes choosing hotel rooms a little bit more complicated. I have a couple of ideas for you. Most of Disney's Deluxe Resorts have rooms with two queen sized beds and a day bed. Those are great but our kids always argued over who got the queen bed and who got the day bed. Disney's Wilderness Lodge and Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge have rooms with one queen sized bed and a set of bunk beds. We had to flip a coin for who got the top bunk, but other than that the kids enjoyed having their own beds.

For another option, Disney's All Star Music Resort and Disney's Art of Animation Resort have Family Suites. The Family Suite has a separate bedroom with a queen sized bed and bathroom, a kitchenette, a living room with a furniture that converts to beds, and another bathroom. I know sofa beds get a bad reputation, but my over 40 year old body slept very well on one of the chairs that converts to a bed. We enjoyed the separate bedroom, kitchenette and having two bathrooms.

As for parks and shows, there are so many choices and you might be surprised by what your teenagers want to see and do. I would suggest either buying or stopping by your local library for a guidebook. I recommend Birnbaum's Official Guide to Walt Disney World or, my favorite, The Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World. We have also searched for attraction videos on YouTube to get an idea of what a ride is like.

I hope I've given you some helpful ideas. Please let me know if I can assist you with any other questions!
Wishing you and your family a magical vacation,
    Amy H.
