In choosing vacation dates, I've heard that the first week of Nov is often a less crowded time, but was also wondering about the first week of Jan. I know Disney is EXTREMELY busy during the Christmas holidays. When do the crowds clear out after Christmas?

    Hi, Cami!

If you are planning a trip to Walt Disney World based purely on crowd levels, both the first week of November as well as the first week of January are fairly good weeks for travel.

Take a look at touringplans.com to find information about crowd predictions and historical crowd levels. It's a great tool to use when deciding when to book a trip as well as which park to venture into on any given day. Touringplans.com predicts crowd levels during the first week of November to be anywhere from 3 out of 10 to 9 out of 10; the first week of January, if you skip January 1st and 2nd, are predicted to be 3 out of 10 to 6 out of 10. The real drop in crowd level after Christmas and New Years will take place around January 6th; just keep in mind that weekends are always more crowded, so Saturdays' and Sundays' crowd levels do rise on those days. Stay away from Martin Luther King, Jr. weekend, too, since many schools observe this occasion with a school holiday.

For a different idea, touringplans.com predicts the crowd levels to run 2 out of 10 to to 4 out of 10, from 12/2-12/13, with the exception of 3 days, two of which score 5, one of which scores 6. I was in WDW this past December around that time and the crowds were fairly light. Plus, you get to enjoy the holiday decorations of the parks as well as special events, too. Just something to consider!

Please send more questions as you think of them; I'd love to help you plan your vacation to WDW!
