My children will be 3&5 when we visit WDW. I'd like a hotel that is close to either Epcot or the Magic Kingdom, has suites or adjoining rooms, and easy transportation to the Magic Kingdom and/or Epcot.

I'd recommend either Disney's Polynesian Resort or Disney's Contemporary Resort, Michelle.  Both of these offer connecting rooms as well as suites.  Beyond that, though, transportation to the Magic Kingdom from either of these two resorts is about as convenient as it gets; both are monorail resorts.  The perk of staying in a monorail resort with young children is that you don't even have to remove the children from their strollers to get to and from the Magic Kingdom (which can be especially helpful for parents!).  Epcot, too, is accessible via monorail, though it does require you to change monorails at the Ticket and Transportation Center.

All of these conveniences do come at a cost premium, Michelle, but if ease of travel is your priority, then you can't go wrong with either resort!  Good luck with your decision.
