Can children sit in floats in the hotel pools? Or are they only allowed to be floating with a device that is Coast Gaurd approved?

Hello Melissa! Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel.

My children are at that age where swimming at the Pool or playing in a Splash Play Area at a Walt Disney World Resort Hotel is as Endlessly Magical as a full-blown Parade or Fireworks Extravaganza. Despite this enthusiasm, my son is not as strong a swimmer as he believes himself to be and refuses to wear a life jacket (I'm sure he's just trying to show off his beach-body/swim diaper combination).

The good news is that personal flotation devices other than the life jackets provided on site are allowed in the Pools at Walt Disney World Resort Hotels. The Lifeguards at Walt Disney World Resort Hotel Pools are focused on the safety and comfort of the Guests and want them to have a fun but safe swimming experience.

While larger flotation devices that might obstruct a Lifeguard's view of the water or below are prohibited, reasonably-sized personal flotation devices are allowed. If you are unsure of whether your "float" will be considered an obstruction or not, simply inquire with a Lifeguard upon your arrival at the Pool.

I always bring inflatable arm floats for my children that can be easily packed in luggage when deflated.

    Just Keep Swimming!
