Since children under 3 do not have to purchase tickets to Walt Disney World, do they eat for free also? Can Dining packages be purchased even if you don't stay at the resort? If so can this be put on the magic band?

    Hi Carla,

I bet you're getting super excited for your upcoming October vacation to the most magical place on earth! Between some awesome special events like Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party and the Epcot International Food & Wine Festival combined with mild weather and moderate crowd sizes, it's a GREAT time of year to visit!

If you are visiting with a Mouseketeer who is not yet three years old, I'm happy to let you know that yes, not only will they receive free admission into the theme parks, but if you're dining at an all-you-care-to-enjoy restaurant, served either by buffet or family-style, they'll be able to make their own plate for free. At other dining locations, they're welcome to share food from any Guest in your party at no additional cost. If you decide to purchase them their own meal, however, you will be responsible for covering that cost. Since the portion sizes are generally quite generous, there were very few times that my family ever needed to purchase a meal for one of our little ones.

The Disney Dining Plans can certainly make mealtime really simple, but at this time, they are only available as a perk for Disney Resort hotel Guests. If you're staying off-site, you won't be able to use a MagicBand for charging expenses, redeeming Disney Dining Plan entitlements, or opening hotel doors, but your MagicBand will work for entering the theme parks, checking in at FastPass+ queues, and linking PhotoPass photos to your My Disney Experience account. Stylish AND functional!

Thanks so much for visiting us at the Disney Parks Moms Panel, Carla, and please let us know if you have any other questions as you're planning your trip. I hope that you have a truly magical vacation!
