do children need passports for cruise

    Welcome aboard, Cynthia!

It sounds like you're in the early stages of considering a Disney Cruise Line vacation for your family! My family and I love that it's a vacation for each one of us as there is truly something for everyone onboard! Your whole family is in for all sorts of magical adventures, entertainment, and even Youth Clubs for the kiddos while you and your husband enjoy the adult exclusive activities. I can't wait for you to experience it all!

Cruises that sail from and return to U.S. ports do not require passports for adults or children, but do require adults to have a government issued photo I.D. (like driver's license) along with the original or copy of a state-issued birth certificate. Children only need the original or copy of the state-issued birth certificate. However, if you're able to get passports in time, I highly recommend that for all members of your family. My family and I have always sailed with passports, even for our kids, as it adds extra security and peace of mind. If we were to find ourselves in an unlikely emergency or medical situation in a foreign port of call, we could more easily fly back home with the passports. It's certainly worth looking into, Cynthia.

Now, some itineraries may require passports, so based on your situation and the itinerary you're considering, you'll want to check out the Passports and Travel Documents section of Disney Cruise Line's webpage to ensure you'll arrive with the appropriate documentation.

Have so much fun planning this adventure, Cynthia, and please stop back again if we can help with any other questions you might have as you continue to plan!
