Do my children need jackets in any restaurants or rides? They really hate wearing them.

    Hi Donna,
Thanks for joining us here at the Disney Parks Moms Panel with your question.

Ah, what is better than planning a family vacation to the Walt Disney World Resort? I confess, I'm a little biased but I really do love it. Packing can present a challenge though, can't it?

I have one kid that is freezing with the slightest bit of air conditioning and another three kids that constantly tell me how hot they are all the time. We are frequent visitors to all of the parks there in Lake Buena Vista; we are Annual Passholders and will often just drive over for the day and drive home at night. I have noticed that there are times when I get a bit chilly (full disclosure: I'm a near-native Floridian and my definition of cold might make you burst out laughing), even in the summer. If it is particularly hot and humid and we are sweaty, then enter an air conditioned space for a prolonged amount of time (like to enjoy a meal), I find that I'm a little chilly by the end of our time indoors.  The same goes for getting caught in our frequent afternoon downpours.  Entering an air conditioned space when drenched often makes me cold!

Donna, my personal solution to this problem is this: rain jackets.  If it's raining outside, we can put them on and avoid getting soaked.  Similarly, if any of us get chilly indoors, we can put that jacket on and warm up a bit.  We carry these jackets around with a lightweight drawstring backpack. Everyone has their own and they are responsible for them.  It works out well and I always do a body count and a backpack count as we leave an attraction or a meal.  The backpacks are also handy for snacks, toting souvenirs, water bottles, etc.

I hope I've given you some good ideas for how to conquer the jacket issue with your family.  Please come by and visit us again with any additional Walt Disney World Resort vacation planning questions.

    Best Wishes,
    Amy S.
