My children are ages 5 & 7. Too big/old for strollers, but when possible I would like to save their legs would it be OK if I took very small, folding portable stools for them to sit on while waiting in the long lines ? Thanks, Shannon Montgomery,A

Whatever you bring with you into the ride queues has to come onto the ride with you. There is no way to leave the stools waiting for you at the end of the ride or anything like that.

I believe I know what you're talking about when you say portable folding stools -- some museums have them for guests to carry around while looking at the art. If I'm picturing the correct item, I can't recall ever having seen anyone do this at WDW, but I don't think it would be against the rules. In fact, I bet you'd get a lot of jealous stares and questions from other guests about where got the stools.

There are a few logistical items you might want to think about:

    1. Most of the lines at WDW are moving fairly constantly. There are a some attractions (Dumbo, Mickey's Philharmagic, the Carousel) where you do stand in one spot for a while. In these cases, the stool would be helpful. But in most cases the ride line is constantly moving forward. There would be, in my mind, an annoyingly frequent up and down with the stool, making it perhaps more trouble than it's worth. If you'd like more information about this, I suggest you purchase the Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World. This book describes the loading process for each ride in some detail.

    2. There may not be much space on the ride to store the stools. On some attractions (Small World, Haunted Mansion, Buzz Lightyear) there is plenty of room for bags and personal items. Other attractions, I'm thinking of Space Mountain in particular, are a much tighter fit. You'd also need to ensure that anything you bring could be secured within the ride vehicle. This is particular important for anything "rollercoastery."

Honestly, I'm not sure if in the end you'd think it was a help or a hindrance to have the stools, but it's probably worth a try to see if it works for you.
