Hello, I have a child with special needs. Are there any special accommodations at the parks for these children?Or...anything I should be aware of other than the normal heightened awareness/vigilance we always keep? Thanks

    Hi Laura Jane,

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! I can imagine that your family is getting excited about your upcoming Walt Disney World Resort vacation.

I am happy to say that there are a number of Services for Guests with Disabilities at the Walt Disney World Resort. There are specific services for guests that need certain accommodations. One of the services my family has used is the Disability Access Service. If your child is unable to tolerate standing in the standard line queue, you should register for this service when you arrive at your first theme park. Just stop by Guest Relations and request the Disability Access Service. This service allows you to request a return time for a ride so that your child does not have to wait in the stand-by line. Once you register, a cast member will confirm the number of additional guests who can ride with your child. When we register my husband for the service, the girls and I are allowed to ride with him.

You can use the Disability Access Service in addition to Fast Pass+ service. On the Services for Guests with Disabilities page, there are also links to guide maps for Guests with Disabilities. The Epcot Guide is a good example of the information that these guides provide. In particular, these guides display special viewing areas at shows for guests with disabilities.

Laura Jane, cast members have always been quite helpful as my husband has navigated the parks with a mobility disability. Just ask if you need assistance!

Magic, memories and Minnie Mouse hugs,
