I have a child with Mild Autism. Do can you recommend which resort would be best for my child. Also, it would be a family suite that I would need. Also, is there any accommodations you can provide when going on certain rides. Thank you so much.

    Hi Ana,

Thanks so much for visiting us at the Disney Parks Moms Panel! I, too, have a child on the autism spectrum, and I'd be happy to help you as you plan for your upcoming vacation!

First, if you're looking for a family suite, you'll find 1, 2, and even some 3 bedroom villas at Disney's Deluxe Villas where you'll find a full kitchen as well as plenty of space to spread out and relax. There are also Wilderness Cabins at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort or Family Suites available at Disney's Art of Animation Resort or Disney's All-Star Music Resort that all sleep up to six Guests. Feel free to request a quiet location or anything else that you feel may help your son feel comfortable.

I'm happy to let you know that there are many wonderful services for Guests traveling with all kinds of special needs. I'd encourage you to stop at Guest Relations when you first arrive at the theme parks to discuss your concerns with them, and they'll be happy to help. Ask them about the Disability Access Service, which could help your son avoid waiting in traditional standby lines, and if they could point out some quiet places in the parks in case a sensory break is needed. One other thing that has helped us is to travel with a sensory brush, headphones, and fidget toys just in case our Mouseketeer needs some additional help.

I can tell you that the Cast Members at the Walt Disney World Resort strive to make it the most magical place on earth for everyone, and I am so grateful for how much my son LOVES our visits. I hope that you and your entire family have a truly magical vacation, Ana!
