What do you if your child gets sick?

    Hiya, Sonya!

Oh, it's the worst nightmare. You spend so much time in planning and prepping for your Walt Disney World vacation, and then your little one comes down with something unexpectedly. With three daughters and multiple vacations under my belt, I am an old pro at dealing with sick kids on vacation.

First, for minor things, try to pack a few of the things your kids are familiar with from home. If you use a specific over the counter type of cold medicine or pain reliever, toss it in your bag. If you forget it, fear not. Many of the Disney World shops will have basic over the counter stuff - pediatric versions of Advil, Pediacare, and some other things along those lines. If you are in the park and don't see something in a gift shop, ask. I have learned that many of the gift shops have individual doses of over the counter medicines to help in a pinch.

Each park also has a First Aid station, staffed by a licensed nurse. They can help with many of the minor things, and they can help direct you to urgent care facilities when necessary.

If you are at the hotel, you can call the front desk. Medical providers are available for in-room visits 24 hours a day.

Florida Hospital Centra Care has an Urgent Care facility just outside of the Disney Springs area. They provide complimentary transportation from your Disney resort with a quick call to 407-934-2273, and they are open until midnight during the week and 8 PM on the weekends.

I am wishing you bunches of stay well pixie dust for your upcoming vacation!
