my child has autism and I want to know if there are events that are for kids with special needs? thank you

Thank you for making a magical stop here at the Disney Parks Moms Panel, Patty.

There's not any information at this time regarding any special events for kids on the Autism Spectrum. The Disney Parks is all about making sure their Guests have a magical experience. From personal experience, we have found the Disability Access Service (DAS) Card to be very helpful for our son. I recommend a link on the Disney Parks website called Cognitive Disabilities

The DAS Card is designed to accommodate Guests who aren't able to wait in a conventional queue environment due to disability (including non-apparent disabilities). You will visit the main entrance Guest Relations to discuss your child's special needs and concerns with the Cast Member to see if the DAS card would benefit your child's needs. The child's photo will be taken for the issued card.

With the DAS card, you will go to one of the multiple guest relations kiosks throughout the park and inform the cast member about which attraction you would like to visit. They will fill out your DAS card with the name of the attraction and a return time. ANY time after the assigned return time, you can see a Cast Member at the entrance of the requested attraction to enter through the FastPass (FP) or alternate entrance as directed. The DAS card is not the same as an FP in that there is not a window return time, so there is no pressure to make it back within a certain period. You can only access one DAS card return time for one attraction at a time. While waiting for your DAS return time, you are welcome to grab a magical snack, enjoy a show, or watch a parade.

I hope this helps and that you have a pixie-dusted visit. If you have any more questions, please visit us here and let us know how we can help you plan your magical vacation.

    chEARs!
