How does the cheer compitition affect crowds and hotels in December

    Hi Sheryle!

Thank you for bringing your question to the Disney Parks Moms Panel. December is such a magical time to visit Walt Disney World and I'm glad to tell you I don't think you'll feel a significant impact on crowds!

As a retired cheerleader that used to compete at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex, I can tell you first hand most of their days are jam packed with competition obligations and free time in the parks is limited. You might notice their presence for a few short hours in the evenings, but nothing that should impact your plans.

As far as the Resort hotels, you may see a slight amount of congestion if you plan on staying at one of the Disney Value Resorts, most likely when boarding Disney's Magical Express, based on your arrival date, or in the food courts during popular dining times. Historically teams visiting for Pop Warner Super Bowl and Pop Warner National Cheer & Dance Competition will stay at Value Resorts, but if you are staying at a Moderate Resort hotel or Deluxe Resort hotel I really don't think you'll even be aware of the competition going on!

The first weeks of December are a great time to visit because you'll be able to enjoy all the wondEARful holiday decorations without the crowds that you'll experience later in the month! I think you are going to have an amazing time. Please let me know if you have any other questions before your trip!
