Checking into BLT on 8/25 with 3 kids 9, 6 and 12. August is really, really hot. Any suggestions on how to cool off in the parks? Love the panel! Thanks

    Hi Barbara!

Yes, the summer months in Walt Disney World are hot and humid. We survived a June visit by touring in the early morning and late evening hours. Of course, it'll be hot and humid at those times too. When the sun is at its strongest, head to your hotel for swimming or an air-conditioned break in your hotel room. This is also a good time to see an indoor show!

Take small misting fans, wear hats and don't forget the sunscreen.

Use the indoor restaurants as cooling respites. Just a few minutes inside a counter-service location can really rejuvenate the family. The Animal Kingdom seems to be the most difficult park to tour in the heat as so many attractions are outdoors. Use the early morning strategy and if possible tour this park on whatever day is forecasted to be the "mildest" weather. Animal Kingdom is not a good park to tour in the rain but a great park to tour on an overcast day!

Walk through cool mist stations. There's one by Space Mountain in the Magic Kingdom!

Stay hydrated! Wear light colors and consider changing clothes after a refreshing mid-day break at your hotel.

Do as many outdoor attractions during the morning or late evening as possible. An attraction such as Carousel of Progress is great for an afternoon escape from the hot sun!
