Is there a charge for reducing the party size (but not canceling) on an ADR with less than 24 hours notice? What happens if you just show up with a smaller party size -- will you be charged for those who don't show up?

    Hi Beverly,

Theoretically, they could charge you for one or two people failing to show up for a reservation, but I have never seen this happen.

I've been in this situation several times myself. For example, on a few occasions, we've had a family meal reservation but my husband suddenly has to go on a conference call for work and misses dining with us. On another trip, one of my daughters had a headache and decided not to come to the restaurant. We've never been charged a penalty for showing up with a slightly smaller party. I've spoken to several of the Moms Panelists and they have experienced the same thing. As long as at least one person has arrived and completed the reservation, they didn't face any fees even if the reservation was for a much larger party.

While I can't promise you 100% that you won't be charged for showing up with a smaller party size, I do feel quite confident that if someone shows up for the reservation, you won't face a penalty fee.

Good luck with your planning. Please let us know what else we can do to help.
