Which character meals would you recommend most? We have 2 boys age 4 and 4 girls (2,3,6,6) that we are looking to please (a big family vacation!). We are only planning on booking 2 specialty dining experiences and want to know which ones others recommend.

    Hi Erin!

That's a great question. My family does one or two Character Dining experiences on every trip. I have two boys, 5 and 10, and they both absolutely love Chef Mickey's in the Contemporary Resort. It's a great time for the whole family and you can dine with the characters during breakfast or dinner. Both are nice, but my family personally enjoys dinner more; that's because we like to be in the parks early in the morning. If you're not staying at the Contemporary, it's very easy to get there via the monorail from the Magic Kingdom; it makes for a nice break for a little while. You can get more information on Chef Mickey's here.

Since you have 4 girls, I would have to recommend the Princess Storybook Dining at Akershus Royal Banquet Hall in Epcot. This is an awesome experience, especially for young girls. Even without the Disney Princesses that visit, the atmosphere in this restaurant is fantastic. You feel like you are in a medieval castle. Of course, the Disney Princesses make this a real treat! You can get more information on the Princess Storybook Dining experience here.

You only asked for two recommendations, but if I could make just one more, I would recommend the "Once Upon a Time Breakfast" at Cinderella's Royal Table inside Cinderella Castle at the Magic Kingdom. While I think your entire family will enjoy it, the girls will probably appreciate the setting more than the boys; at least that's based on my experience with my boys. This is something I recommend every family consider doing at least once.

These are all very popular with guests so be sure to make an Advanced Dining Reservation (ADR) as soon as possible; an ADR can be made 180 days in advance. Enjoy planning your trip and write back if you have any more questions!
