We will be celebrating our 40th anniversary in Dec. 2011, but can't decide between two deluxe resorts. Is it possible to stay at both during one week? Is that two separate packages. rooms, tickets, dining plans? Just how would that work?

Hi Marsha! I can't think of a more magical place to celebrate 40 years of marriage than Walt Disney World! Did you know that 2011 is also the 40th anniversary of the opening of Disney World?

I love the deluxe resorts at Disney so much that I, too, have trouble choosing just one for my vacations, and the good news is that you don't have to choose. It's definitely possible to split your stay between multiple resorts. You do have to book the two resorts separately. If you're booking "room only," making two reservations is simple, but if you wish to purchase a package with park tickets and the dining plan, splitting your stay between resorts can be tricky. When you reserve the first resort, you can purchase park tickets to cover your entire stay at both resorts, but you can purchase the dining plan only for the number of nights you're staying at the first resort. Your dining plan credits must be used by midnight of the day you check out of the first resort. In order to purchase the dining plan at the second resort, you'd have to book another package with park tickets, and doing so is generally not cost-effective. (I've discussed this issue in more depth here.) In general, your best bet would be to book a package with park tickets and the dining plan at your first resort and then make a second "room only" reservation for the other resort.  You could continue to use the remaining days on the park tickets purchased with the package at the first resort, but you'd have to pay out of pocket for your dining. Since it's a special anniversary, consider booking a club-level room at the second resort. Club-level rooms come with continental breakfast, afternoon snacks, evening appetizers, desserts, wine, beer and cordials, and with all of that, you won't miss the dining plan!

Best wishes for a magical anniversary!
