We are going to celebrate my son's 5th birthday at disney in April 2020. How can disney make it more special & memorable for him ?

Hello, Bee! Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! It's great to have you here planning for your upcoming vacation.

Celebrating a special birthday at the Walt Disney World Resort is so much fun and I hope your little Mouseketeer has a Magical day. Since you're helping out Tinker Bell and sprinkling a little extra pixie dust, let me first recommend you pick up some complimentary buttons. If you are staying at a Disney Resort Hotel, these are available through your Lobby Concierge or at any of the four theme parks. Buttons are a great way to show all of the Cast Members that you are there for your son's birthday. While I can't guarantee this will open any "extras," you just never know what will unfold at the Walt Disney World Resort!

Bee, another option you have to make your son's day memorable is to order a custom birthday cake in advance. Custom cakes can be delivered to your Disney Resort Hotel or to a large number of participating restaurants all around the Walt Disney World Resort. This might be the perfect surprise for your son at the end of a meal!

If you're hoping for an in-room celebration, I would take a look at what is available through Disney Floral and Gifts. Balloons, gift baskets and more are available at different price points and with different themes. I built a custom basket for my friend's first trip and ordering through Disney Floral and Gifts was so easy!

Finally, I would suggest thinking about your son's favorite character and planning to meet him or her on your son's birthday. With his birthday button, Character Experiences can turn into a frame-worthy photo. You may even think about bringing a small sign from home that says, "My Magical Birthday!" A classic Character Meet and Greet that is bookable through Fastpass+ is the main man himself, Mickey Mouse at Town Square Theater in Magic Kingdom Park.

Bee, I hope this gives you a few ideas that will turn your son's birthday into a day you'll never forget. Best wishes for a WONDERful vacation. Come on back and see us here at the Disney Parks Moms Panel with any other questions you might have,
