Is the Carribean Resort close to MK & AK. I might either wait in a Baby Care Center so my older kids can enjoy their time at the park or stay 1/2 day at the park. Any ideas/experience you can share to provide comfort to a baby with DS. We go in 1 wk. D

We actually stayed at the Caribbean Beach Resort when my daughter (who also has Down syndrome) was 22 months.  It's not particularly close to either the Magic Kingdom or the Animal Kingdom unfortunately.  The good news, though, is that you should still be able to accommodate the needs of your son fairly easily.  What worked well for us when my daughter was that young was taking afternoon breaks.  We went to the parks at opening and stayed until after lunch time, at which point we'd head back (by bus) to the resort.  Either my husband or I would stay in the room with our youngest daughter while the other parent took the older two girls to the pool.  After a nice two to three hour relaxation time we'd take the bus back to the original park (or hop to a different one) and enjoy dinner and a few more attractions (and maybe fireworks), before calling it a day.

While the Baby Care Centers are an awesome resource, I'm not sure I'd want to hang out in there for too long.  Personally, I'd rather relax in my room if I expected to be taking a lengthy break.  Should your little guy tucker out before you reach your room, it would be helpful to have a reclining stroller that provides adequate shade coverage.
