I can't find the hours for Blizzard Beach the last week of September 2020. Are they closing during the fall?

    Hi Emily,

Thanks for stopping by the Disney Parks Moms Panel with your question. Like you, I'm dreaming of my fall Walt Disney World vacation and can't wait to make my plans.

Schedules for all the theme parks and water parks are usually posted about six months in advance. Under normal circumstances, one or both of the water parks -- Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach -- are open year round.  Even when the calendar says fall, our Central Florida weather still screams summer, so September is a perfect time for a day of water park fun.

Each park usually does close for a few weeks annually for an update and maintenance. Normally, they close one at a time.

Blizzard Beach just completed a longer-than-normal refurbishment from September 2019 to January 2020. So I wouldn't expect it's annual spruce-up to be as long this year, but I haven't yet seen information on when the refurbishment will take place. For that kind of information, I always keep an eye on the Disney Parks Blog to be in the know.

While you're thinking of fall at Walt Disney World, Emily, make sure you also consider adding a couple of the big autumn special events to your schedule -- Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party and, my favorite, the EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival. The Halloween Party is set to begin on August 13 and run on select nights through November 1. The Food & Wine Festival usually starts about the same time and happens daily at EPCOT through mid-November.

Happy planning! Please let us know if you have any other questions or need recommendations for those dining reservations or FastPass+ choices. Enjoy!
