Welcome to the
Disney Parks Moms Panel, Linda! Thank you for bringing us your question about your visit to
Walt Disney World Resort this upcoming December!
I understand your concern. My mom has severe knee problems and sometimes sitting in a wheelchair for hours also causes discomfort in her hips so we really need to make sure she feels comfortable when getting around the parks, especially when waiting for an
attraction.
Luckily, Disney has created a
Disability Access Service (DAS) Card, a tool designed to accommodate guests who aren’t able to wait in a conventional queue environment due to a disability or medical condition. It offers guests a return time for attractions based on the current wait time. If you qualify for this service, you and your party will all be eligible to receive a return time for another attraction once you finish your first attraction, and so on. The best thing is that this service can be used in addition to the
FastPass+ service.
Linda, the first thing you'll have to do is go to the Guest Relations Office at one of the main four theme parks ,
Magic Kingdom Park,
Epcot,
Disney's Hollywood Studios, and
Disney's Animal Kingdom and speak to a Cast Member about your condition for them to determine eligibility. They will ask you to describe your medical problem and will discuss your concerns with you. If you qualify for this program, your
MagicBands will be scanned and you may begin to use it.
I am sure everything will be just fine! Please come back with more questions, we love to help out!
Wishing the most magical vacation,
~Desiree
