My cadette (age 12-13) girl scout troop was planning on going to Girl Scouts Unite 2016, but we were told that it wasn't going to happen that year. Any suggestions for a troop to do? We only have 9 girls, so we can't do the YES program.

    Hey Lisa!

Walt Disney World is the perfect place for a Girl Scout gathering. I remember in my girl scout days it was all about the badges. I suggest perusing the Badge Explorer on the Girl Scout website and using those themes as a basis for your activities. Here are some examples:

    • The Finding Common Ground badge is great for pre-planning your Walt Disney World vacation as a group. Have each group member participate in democractically making decisions for the group. They could participate in civil debates about theme parks, attractions and shows they want to experience then find the common ground on their park touring plan.
    • The Budgeting badge is also perfect when planning your vacation. Have each member research potential costs such as food, souvenirs, resort expenses, etc. to set a budget for their trip. Each member should decide their own budget in lines with their own personal tastes. Once at Walt Disney World they should keep track of their actual expenditures versus their budget.
    • In line with the New Cuisines badge, tour Epcot's World Showcase and sample cuisines from around the world. Try calamari in Morocco, baguettes in France, gelato in Italy and much more.
    • Even though these are Cadettes, the Junior Gardener badge is the perfect for the "Behind the Seeds" tour at The Land Pavilion in Epcot where they are researching new ways to grow organic fruits and vegetables.

There are so many more ideas and so little room. I hope this is a good start to your planning. If you have any more questions about making the most of your Walt Disney World vacation please come back and see me.

Wishing you a *MAGICAL* vacation and a pixie-dusted day!
