So when I buy a ticket to the theme parks will we see characters, or am I expected to buy something separate in order to see characters?? And also ive heard the lines are so long you cant get in on the day you're expectinf half the time is this true??

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel, Faith! Thank you for bringing us your question.

Character experiences are an integral part of every vacation. It doesn't matter I have hugged Mickey Mouse dozens of times, I always keep coming back for more! Every encounter is special, and usually planned for, although I must admit I also enjoy the totally unexpected, last minute hugs and kisses with my favorite pals!

There are many options for you to consider. Characters can be found at several official Meet & Greet locations for which you will have to wait in line. Some characters are obviously more popular than others at certain times, so yes in some cases, lines will not be short. The good news is that for some of them, you can reserve a FastPass+ and significantly reduce wait times. One FastPass+ eligible experience you cannot miss is meeting both Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse in their brand-new party attire at Town Square Theater on Main Street U.S.A. at the Magic Kingdom Park.

Another way to secure an encounter with them is during a character meal. My favorite restaurants are Cape May Cafe at Disney's Beach Club Resort (breakfast) or Chef Mickey's at Disney's Contemporary Resort (breakfast, brunch, and dinner). During these experiences, the characters will visit with every guest for photos and autographs so be sure to bring a book! Reservations are recommended and can be made up to 180 days prior to your visit.

I hope this helps a bit. I wish you and your family a wonderful time with the characters! Be sure to take lots of pictures!

Meet the Panelist: Desiree, Peru

Hi! I'm Desiree from Lima, Peru. My family will never ever tire of visiting the Most Magical Place on Earth, even if means traveling almost 3,000 miles to do so! My husband and I love to watch the fireworks with our kids, but the best magic happens when the grandparents come along and we all feel the same age in front of Cinderella Castle! I love giving tips about different types of resorts and traveling with multigenerational groups.
