I want to buy mickey ears for my kids the time we go to wdw. My question is how do you get them home without being crushed in the luggage? Any tricks you use to transport fragile things?

    Hi Michelle,

Honestly, the best way to get Mickey ears home without getting crushed is to wear them. And no, I'm not joking. When I return home from a Disney trip, I wear my ears with pride. It helps me pretend that I'm on vacation just a little while longer. If that's not your style, you can push one side of the hat part of the ears into the other, making a sort of cup shape, and then place them on the top of your purse or hand held carry-on. That works well too.

If I have breakables, like a mug or glass that I'm bringing home, I generally have the store box them (most WDW shops have boxes) or wrap them in tissue or bubble wrap. I then bring them home in my carry on suitcase so I know that they won't be thrown around. Just be sure not to do this with snow globes. Due to the liquid inside, they don't usually make it through airport security.

You can also have most Disney shops ship breakables (or anything else) directly to you at home. They'll make sure they're properly wrapped for transport. Just ask at the register of any merchandise location.

Good luck with your planning. Please let us know what else we can do to help.
