My brother and I want to enter the Disney Princess race in February. He is a below the knee amputee and has to stop long enough to add/change his stumb socks. Does he get any "extra" time to do this or does he still have to be below a 16 minute

Hi Patty!  I think that would be a great experience for you and your brother!

The pace of 16 minutes per mile is for everyone in the race.  I am not sure if your brother has competed in races before, but if he has run a 10K or higher, he can submit proof of time when he registers to hopefully get into one of the earlier starting corrals.  The pacers (sweepers) won't begin until the very last person in the last corral crosses the starting line.  This means that everyone who begins before the last group will have at least some extra time. The corrals begin every 5-6 minutes.  So, he will have extra time to do what he needs to do.  It is a cumulative pace for the whole race, meaning you don't have to keep a 16 minute/mile the entire time.

When he picks up his bib, if he is in a late corral, he can stop by the runner relations booth at the expo and explain his situation.  They may be able to give him a sticker to start in an earlier corral.

Please let me know if you have any other questions!
