I am bringing my 9 year old son to Disney for the first time. We are staying at the Grand Floridian in April. Can you suggest activities and must see places for that age? I have heard a little about the pin trading it sounds like something he would like

Hi, Dawn! Welcome back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel.

My oldest son is 10-years old. He does enjoy the pin trading. You can purchase a starter set at several locations. My guy also enjoys trading vinylmations. They are little statues that resemble Mickey Mouse. They come in all sorts of designs. Every Theme Park has at least one vinylmation trading location. Lastly, penny presses are a big deal to my kids. They are an inexpensive and fun souvenir. All you need is two quarters and a penny! There are numerous presses found in the resorts, Theme Parks, and Downtown Disney Area. It is so much fun just keeping your eyes out for them! Who will spot the next one?

My son loves science and technology. If this sounds like your prince, be sure to visit the INNOVATIONS buildings in Epcot. Specifically, be sure to visit The Sum of All Thrills where he can design and ride his very own thrill ride!

Your little man may also enjoy playing Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom. It is an interactive game that takes you on an adventure all over Magic Kingdom Park. Sign up at the Firehouse on Main Street, U.S.A. or behind the Ye Olde Christmas Shoppe in Liberty Square.

As far as rides are concerned, my son’s top three favorites are Rock 'n' Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith at Disney's Hollywood Studios, Splash Mountain at Magic Kingdom Park and Expedition Everest - Legend of the Forbidden Mountain located in Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park.

If your son has a need for speed, check out the Richard Petty Driving Experience. They offer Junior Ride-Alongs for children ages 6-13. He can experience what it is like to be a real race car driver!

Wishing your family a magical vacation, Dawn!

Meet the Panelist: Rachel, Wisconsin

Hi, I’m Rachel! I am a “boy mom” to two rowdy little men at home and married to my high school sweetheart. I am fortunate enough that my prince charming loves all things Disney just as much as I do! For me, planning a trip to Walt Disney World can be just as magical as being there. It brings our family together as we dream, plan, and count down the days. I would be honored to help plan your visit and share in your family’s very own magic! Learn More About Rachel
