Bringing my Mother n law for her first visit to Disney World :). Was disappointed that POR was booked. Had to book preferred rooms at Coronado Springs. Reviews are so mixed for CS. Which building would you recommend? Casistas or Cabanas?

    Hello, Stacy!

Planning your mother-in-law's first trip to Walt Disney World? What a great daughter-in-law you are! :-)

Disney's Coronado Springs Resort is a really lovely resort, with wonderful food options as well as a fantastic  Feature Pool, The Lost City of Cibola; my family really enjoyed our stay there. The resort is, however, very large, so choosing which location to request is a good idea. For us, a stay in Building 8A of the Cabanas would be ideal due to proximity to both the Feature Pool and a bus stop, but that might not be right for your family.

I suggest that you consider a few factors before making a request for either Casitas or Cabanas. Look at the resort map to find each section's proximity to amenities you might enjoy more frequently than others. (The map is located on the right side of the resort's home page.) Next, read the review of the resort on my favorite unofficial website, allears.net. You can find that review by selecting "Walt Disney World," then "Accommodations," then "Coronado Springs Fact Sheet." Scroll down in the review until you come to the detailed information regarding building location and distance between several buildings and restaurants, main pool, bus stops and the front desk. At that point, you'll know if you'd rather be in a quieter setting, away from the main pool, for example, or if you'd like to be as as close to dining as possible, and can select accordingly.

Regardless, take advantage of the resort transportation system which will make getting around a little easier, if distance is a concern. Knowing what to expect before you go will help you make the best decisions once you are there, so you'll avoid making some mistakes that could have been easily avoided, had you only known.
