    Sarah from MS Asked

I will be bringing my kids(7 & 5) to Disney world in May and I was wondering if there was anything special the resorts do for 1st time trips for kids. And also Is there any suggestions for a single parent and 2 wonderful kids to do while we are visitin

Hello Sarah, what a great name you have! Your children must be so excited that their Walt Disney World vacation is just right around the corner. Before every vacation my son and I plan movie nights leading up to our departure date. We will pick a different movie every night and eat some Disney inspired snacks. Not only is it great for spending time together, but it also gets the kids excited and immersed into the story lines of the animated films.

There are so many things that you can do to celebrate your child's first Walt Disney World vacation. When you check in to your Resort you can ask for complimentary First Visit Buttons and wear them around. I still have my son's First Visit Button from years ago. You can also arrange to have an In Room Celebration waiting to surprise your children when you come back to your room. There are many different In Room Celebrations to choose from, but the Welcome Celebrations are perfect for first Walt Disney World vacations. Another thing you can do is stop by The Chapeau in Magic Kingdom and get your children their very own personalized set of Mickey Ears.

Your question was cut off at the end, but I think you were asking about navigating the parks from a single parent perspective. I am also a single parent, and have been coming to the parks with my son since he was a toddler. The biggest advice I can give is to be prepared for anything. I always carry Band-Aids, hair ties, sunscreen, wipes etc. Also always be prepared for the weather. I suggest purchasing ponchos before your trip. You might also want to pack a towel and swimsuit for your children because there are several splash pad spots around the parks where they can cool off on a hot day. Those splash spots can turn a cranky hot child into a crazy happy kid in an instant.

I'm running out of space but if you need any more ideas, please stop back in I'd love to help!
