I am bringing a group of teenagers to WDW next May on a trip themed after storytelling. We're staying at AoA since the whole resort centers around animated storytelling. Can you recommend a restaurant (or 2) that is an immersive storytelling experience?

Hi, Jill!  What a GREAT idea!  Walt Disney World is the perfect place for this type of trip, as the whole place is a story just waiting to be heard!

The new Be Our Guest restaurant at the Magic Kingdom is probably my ideal storytelling location.  The theme of the restaurant is the story of Beauty and the Beast, but you can visit the various rooms in the restaurant and see the story of the Prince that owns the castle.  From the angry West Wing to the beautiful ballroom, the heartwarming love story plays out in the decor.  Best thing about the restaurant?  You don't need a reservation for lunch!

For a really unique experience, try Boma, the buffet dining experience at Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge.  But, to hear the stories, do the culinary tour that begins at 4 PM.  You don't need a reservation; your group just shows up at the podium at 4 PM.  Your guide, usually a native of one of the many African countries, will tell you stories not only of life back home for them, but you will hear amazing stories throughout the restaurant itself.  Boma is the Swahili word for enclosure, and on the tour, you will learn about how the various furnishings represent an enclosure, or why some chairs have iron backs, or even why the columns are made from clay pots.  After your tour, you can have an early dinner at the buffet, then head out to hear the African storytellers you frequently find around the fire pit overlooking the savanna.  Every piece of art throughout the resort tells a story, and it's also the largest collection of African artifacts outside the continent of Africa - there's all sorts of educational opportunities!

I hope your group hears - and tells - some amazing stories!
