Howdy, Andrea! Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel!
Yay! I am thrilled that you and your family will be visiting the Disneyland Resort for the first time next spring! The Disneyland Resort is quite different than the Walt Disney World Resort, but still holds just as much magic and fun. One of the differences is how the
Disney FASTPASS Service works. The traditional Disney FASTPASS Service is included with your theme park admission and requires you to visit FASTPASS distribution kiosks for each attraction that you want to ride. If you have been visiting the Walt Disney World Resort for several years, it’s the same system that they used to employ before switching to FastPass+. You won’t make FASTPASS selections in advance here. They are all made one at a time for the same day. Additionally, only select attractions offer FASTPASS at the Disneyland Resort – others are standby only.
For an additional fee per ticket per day, you can upgrade to the
Disney MaxPass option which allows you to make FASTPASS selections from anywhere in the parks using the Disneyland app. You can make a FASTPASS selection as soon as you are through the park gates and continue to make them either as soon as the time arrives when you can select another, or when you redeem one at an attraction. If you make selections as soon as you are able, you will often find that you can hold multiple FASTPASSES at once and that you are zooming around the parks riding your favorite attractions with very minimal waiting. Plus, as an added bonus, downloads of all your PhotoPass photos are included on each day that you use MaxPass.
I would love to discuss even more wonderful ways that the Disneyland Resort differs from the Walt Disney World Resort, so please stop by again!
