bringing my elderly parents who are first timers to WDW. we've got ECVs and our grocery store planned. Other than mouse ears in the rooms, do you have any suggestions on what we can do to make this extra special? this will be their 1st time!!

Hi Becky! One is never too old for the magic of Disney World! This past December I took my 88 year old mother on a week of holiday fun and she loved every minute of it!

Decorating the room was a big thrill for her so definitely work with the Disney Florist on putting a surprise or two in their room. There are wonderful room packages if your budget can allow that and if not then be sure and send a nice festive floral that can go with their "Ears". Disney floral can get those engraved with their names too. I personally also left a little surprise on her pillow each day once the room was cleaned. It can be as simple as a Mickey rice krispie treat to a magnet or something larger again depending on your budget. She was always excited to get back to the room to see the day's surprise.

I suggest time in each park so they get a piece of what Walt Disney World is all about. But pick and choose the attractions and activiites so they aren't worn out. I can offer suggestions if you would like to ask me personally in the next question.

Pick at least one character dining experience for them. You are never too old to want a picture with Mickey or one of his friends. This is a great time to also arrange for a personal family photo with the Disney photographers. It can be a simple one through one in the parks or reserve a time for a resort shot.

One last thing and again will depend on that darn budget! My parents loved taking a fireworks cruise for either the Magic Kingdom or Illuminations.  This was always a thrill for them and very doable for those with mobility issues. For something a little less expensive try Tomorrowland Dessert Party for the Magic Kingdom show.

Let me know if I can help you further!
