We would like to bring sandwiches into the park for lunch. Are there rules about not bringing things in. I don't want them to confiscate food at the gate

    Hi Lori,

You absolutely can bring sandwiches and other foods, including non-alcoholic drinks, with you into the parks!

I see families spreading out picnics all the time, usually sandwiches, fruit and chips. But once at Magic Kingdom, I was sitting on a bench next to a family enjoying an entire Indian feast, hot from the insulated bag they had in their stroller. The curry smell was so enticing, I was really tempted to ask if I could join them.

Most people bring their food in small, soft-sided coolers that can stow in a stroller or in backpacks. You will be asked to open the coolers for inspection, just like you do purses and other bags.

You cannot bring in alcoholic beverages or glass containers (except baby food jars), and coolers can be no larger than 24 inches long by 15 inches wide by 18 inches tall.

You can find benches and tables throughout the parks where you can enjoy the lunch you brought. One out-of-the-way place: the picnic tables near the playground on Tom Sawyer Island in Magic Kingdom. That's a great spot to have lunch and allow the kids some space to run around freely.

I seldom carry snacks now that my daughters are older, but we do try to bring a water bottle with us, especially on hot days, so that we can stay hydrated and avoid having too many sodas.

I hope that helps. Please let me if I can answer any other questions. Enjoy you time at Disney with your family!
