I have 2 boys.Nik-will be 4 and AJ- 3 when we go to WDW for 1st time! Are they too young for the indoor theme park in Down Town Disney? We were also wondering about Mickey&Minnies Pirate/Princess after party too. We dont want to wear our kids out!

    Hi Melissa,

Every trip to Walt Disney World is exciting, but the first time has that extra magic!  You and your family are in for a real treat!

Speaking from my own experience, I would hold off on visiting Disney Quest at this time.  There are height requirements for several of the games, and I think this park is best suited for older children.  Also, I don't know if you're planning on using them for your vacation, but strollers are not allowed inside Disney Quest.

The Pirate/Princess parties were canceled for the 2009 winter season, and no official word has been given on whether they will return in the spring.

Now that you've read my answers to those questions, you may be feeling a little deflated, but rest assured, your children will have a wonderful time.

First, where are you staying.  Caribbean Beach Resort has some newly decorated pirate rooms that are absolutely amazing!  The main pool at this resort is also pirate themed, and there is a separate splash zone play area that is like a small water park.

Also, I recommend planning a character dining experience.  These are meals where the characters actually come up to the tables and visit your children one on one.  Hollywood and Vine at Hollywood Studios features favorite Playhouse Disney Characters, Crystal Palace at the Magic Kingdom has Winnie the Pooh and friends, and Tusker House in Animal Kingdom features Donald Duck and his friends dressed for a Safari!  Call (407) 939-3463 for more information or to make a reservation.

Be sure to go to guest relations in the parks and ask for a special "1st Visit" button for you and your children.  Cast Members tend to spot those buttons and often give a little extra dose of magic to guests wearing them.

There are so many things to see and do at Walt Disney World, you and your family are sure to have a great time!
